You answered your own question. You got the land back because of the ceasefire declared by the UN. It doesn't mean Egypt in any way was a formidable opponent to Israel. Maybe if you mean pain in the butt as in Israel got so bored of your "fighting" that they felt bad for you and just gave you the land back to be quiet like an adult giving a baby his toy back to so he/she can be quiet.
